Hips Update

My physical therapist is convinced that I have a bony impingement in my left hip (maybe the right one as well), which would explain the eight years of on-and-off pain, the clicking sensation, and my lack of improvement despite two weeks of intense rehab. He doesn’t believe I’m a candidate for surgery—the pain isn’t THAT bad, and I can still go about most of my daily activities—but he’s referred me to a specialist anyway. Once we work on strengthening my weak areas and addressing my many biomechanical issues, I’ll be able to get back to working out normally. Except this: He told me I will probably need to avoid activities that aggravate the impingement for the rest of my life. Luckily, nothing has bothered me badly in the last several years besides bicycling and ass-to-grass squats. Not being able to do a full squat will make my CrossFit coaches squirm, but you know what? At least I’ll be able to do most things.
