How do I heal my hips once and for all?
I’ve been dealing with these symptoms on and off since 2004, and they’ve come back in full force since I started CrossFit in mid-2011.
- If I stand too quickly after sitting for a while, my hip flexors get “stuck” and I collapse back into my chair.
- Sometimes, the hip flexors snap as I’m climbing stairs, bending over or even just walking. It’s an audible click that makes people say, “What the heck was that?”
- I feel like my pelvis is tilted forward slightly. It’s especially obvious when I’m laying on my stomach.
- I’m unable to sit in the butterfly position (feet together, knees out). I experience searing pain when I attempt to do so.
- Even on good days, I have difficulty squatting lower than with my thighs parallel to the floor without pain.
Steps I’ve already taken:
- One round of physical therapy in 2004 and another in 2008
- Stretching, stretching and more stretching
- Strengthening the hip and core muscles
