Ringing in 2012
This was a whopper!
“Jeremy”: 21-15-9 overhead squats and burpees
65# Rx. My time was close to 14 minutes, the slowest of the day by about 90 seconds. I don’t know my exact time because as soon as I finished that ninth burpee I collapsed and stayed on the ground until I was forced to move out of the way for the next wave. Those squats were just a killer for me—I spent my first six months of CrossFit working out my hip flexor problems and only within the last couple months have been able to start building up any real strength.
I spent most of last week nursing my sore neck and shoulder. You may have noticed this is my first update since Monday the 26th—that’s because I took an entire week off. I was afraid that I’d really hurt myself, but I think now it’s safe to say I just had a bad pull in my trap from straining too much on the rings. I figured taking one week off now would be better than taking several weeks off later and I’m happy to report I’m feeling much better now.
My first real CrossFit competition, Hail to the Queen, is on January 28. I’ll be out of town two weekends between now and then, so I plan to be at the box every weeknight preparing. More to come…
